| Metal ghost $4.49, plastic $3.99 = -.50 difference. The ghost is prolly usable as-is, but some of them still need repainted. I ain't paying $2.49 for a zed-head. Fortress Figures makes a nice assortment way cheaper.

| PCs figures at cheap DDM rare prices. The only figure that's a bargain is the Bathalian and that is assuming there isn't an uncommon Mind FLayer in DoD2. So far the most disappointing thing is the pace. This brings the total of LE figures to 17 in 6 months. With only 2 on my must buy list (Minotaur and Bathalian).
There were some very promising figures in the pics but they won't show until maybe summer 08? | | Called Shot: Against the Giants -- Aboleth Called Shot: Demonweb - Large Whip Spider Another Champion of the Aboleth

| Right now I'm more exited over their Weird WWII line than their pre-painted fantasy stuff. Oh did I mention they were doing a game with nazi zombies? | | Pathetic Earthlings. | I love Reaper's line of miniatures (specifically the unpainted metal ones), but I don't think they really know what they're doing with the pre-painted plastic ones. They're going about it all wrong. Most RPGers have two basic needs: monsters and PCs/NPCs. And when it came to major monsters, PCs, and recurring NPCs for my campaigns, I always went with Reaper, because the level of detail and the selection of appearances couldn't be beat, even if it was extra work to paint the minis.
Now, where plastic, pre-painted minis are concerned, most of us aren't going to pay $2.00+ each for what equate to DDM commons, like skeletons and goblins, because we aren't like to stop buying DDM in favor of Reaper and, as such, we'll have loads of these guys already. The real appeal lies in getting non-random rares for $5.00 when the DDM equivalent would be too much of a crap shoot or, if purchase as a single, would likely cost us twice or thrice as much, like Mind Flayers and Trolls and Demons. That should be where Reaper focuses. They should look back over all the DDM sets and consider which rares had the highest RPG appeal, specifically in multiples, but were too expensive for most people to buy as singles. Giants, Ogres, Trolls, Dragons, and Demons. Those should be the minis they crank out, rather than common fodder troops - unless they start marketing "Army Packs" that can reduce the cost even further. Like, 20 assorted Orcs (1 Orc Chieftan, 1 Orc Shaman, 3 Orc Bodyguards, 5 Orc Archers, 5 Orc Spearmen, and 5 Orcs with Swords and Shields) for $25. That would make them only a little over $1.00 each and give you a complete encounter in a box.
The other focus should be on PC/NPC minis. Bring the same level of detail as their metal minis line and put a little extra care into the paintjobs to really showcase the details. Sure, $5 for a single mini might be a little expensive, but if they look as great as the metal ones and save you the need for painting them, I think they'd sell well for players and DMs alike looking for standout figures to represent their characters and major villains.
If they keep going with the oddball mix they've got going now, I foresee the Reaper plastic minis line getting axed in the near future. Which would be a shame because there's such potential there for them to coexist alongside DDM.

| | There's five of those that I am really interested in. The fighters, the ranger, the elf archer, and the mind flayer. I already have gobs and gobs of those in DDM, but, let's be frank. The quality of DDM has slid and continues to slide in a really ugly way--huge seams on figures, poor assembly, washes that make it look like figs were in a mud fight. Thus, I'm not sure the typical DnD gamer,or DDM player is their target audience on this. There is SOME overlap, but it's not necessarily one and the same. I think the Reaper LE's are pointed, not so much at people who want cheap ppm, but people who are burned out on DDM 15$ a sleeve. I think this is the same target audience that Rackham is shooting for. | | Champion of the Froghemoth Knight of Beholder-Kin Squire of Low-Level uniques | |

| I'll be picking up both human fighters, a Ghost, a Mind Flayer, and if they offer the zombies in 3 packs, I may snag a couple.
The stuff I really want just wasn't in this release though. | | This new learning amazes me Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes. -King Arthur Life is pain and we have to scrape the joy out of it every chance we get. -Rod Kimble

| Only 2 months behind schedule. Amazing how much slack you get when you're not the WotC.
I'll still snag a few. Got 6 weeks until I drop the next big wad of cash on figures. | | Called Shot: Against the Giants -- Aboleth Called Shot: Demonweb - Large Whip Spider Another Champion of the Aboleth

| The local FLGS got these in this weekend. The paint jobs are much better than on the first wave, comparable to good paint jobs on a WOTC rare. The Bathalian/mind flayer clone is schweeet; picked up two of those. While smaller than the WOTC purple worm, the Reaper worm has a better paint job with lots of shading and detailing. While all four of the PC figures are well done, the human female ranger has the most dynamic pose and best paint job. The ghost is nice and the zombie is, well, zombie-ish. In all, a good release and, as I said, a step forward in painting quality. Regards, V | | | |

| Meh, I don't want a smaller Purple worm.
This would have been more exciting 3 months ago when it was supposed to be out.

| It would be nice if they resized the larger minis to adjust for the economies of plastic. Metal requires smaller sculpts for metal cost and shipping costs.
Plastics material cost is much lower and the weight is so much lighter that sculpts designed for plastic don't have to worry as much about weight.

| I picked up a Ghost, Evil Fighter and Mind Flayer. I had Sarah order me 3 more ghosts as I really like 'em even if their teeth are painted like teeth
The Bathalian looks better than I thought it would from the picsand I was quite happy with it. I was waffling on the fighter but Nicholas kept picking it up and wanting to play with it, so he made my mind up for me. I want some zombies, but I'm gonna wait on the 3 packs.
I think the 2nd wave was a bit PC heavy considering the amount of sculpts they're releasing at a time, but the next wave looks like the one I'll be dropping some serious cash on. | | This new learning amazes me Sir Bedevere.
