Hell yeah, make that a big NO on proposition 8!
I still laugh that the Utah Mormons have put 25million into a California law to keep marriage 'traditional'.
Better check on the fine print on Prop 8 maybe it'll legalize polygamy again.

What's funny about the hate of polygamy is that it's historically as common (or more common) as single-partner marriage. Heck, poyandry is still pretty commonly practiced in certain parts of the world (as is the more referenced polygyny).
It's been argued that part of the reason for the increase in wandering "hooligans" in China during the Ming period was a shortage of available marriageable women due to status (second wife means you're rich), heir procurement (second wife or concubines ensure sons), and the state regulation and proliferation of widow chastity. If one man has two wives and a concubine then dies young all three women are theoretically supposed to remain chaste (can't remarry).
