| SO we have finally made the finals of WBC 16. It's been an interesting run and we are down to the final two bands:
Warband 3 Large Shadow Dragon 48 Astral Stalker 45 Digester 39 Drider 26 Rot Scarab Swarm 19 Deathjumpspider 11 Darkmante 6 Bat Familiar 6
Warband 11 Large Shadow Dragon 48 Astral Stalker 45 Nightmare 44 Umber Hulk Delver 36 Flame Snake 8 Boneshard Skeleton 7 Darkmantle 6 Bat Familiar 6
We will cycle back to the first map and play on:
Dwarven Outpost
These two bands look pretty close in design but there are some subtle differences. Band 3 is more of an engager while band 11 is more of a defender build. Which one do you think will pull it off in the end The map looks fairly generic for both players, but as anyone who played in the championships can contend: It's got some tricks up its sleeves!
A voter chosen at random will win a custom hand painted mini so make sure you VOTE!!
Voting will close Sept 17th unless we have a tie. Then we will go into the tiebreaker methods described in the semi final thread.
Good luck to both contestants!

| 6 large bases on this map. WB 3 has a little ranged advantage and better tech. WB 11 has the better mobility and more weapons. I think 11 will take the victory after an amazing battle.

| If the Umber Hulk Delver gets to use its Confusing Gaze twice, and at least one hits, and if it gets to use its Sapper twice, and at least one hits, that could alter the game. Even if the opposed, Stunned, figure is on the central victory area, being Stunned while facing an onslaught of attacks would hurt, and the effective loss of a turn could be crippling. The Confused condition is (save ends), so that could really hurt too.
The Digester's cone might be a very effective tool on a map with a choke point. But, the choke point doesn't have to be used. Both bands have Darkmantles and Bat Familiars, so both bands should be able to find ways to get a few rounds of assault points. That might provide an advantage to 11, since the Umber Hulk can Burrow and the Nightmare can Blink Out.
The Drider should be able to help 3 because it has enough hit points to last long enough to help with the Conceal of 11's Large Shadow Dragon. Then again, for it to work, the Drider has to get close, and that might pack things in a little tight for 3.
The Rot Scarab Swarm may get to the central victory area on round 2, and that's could be an advantage for 3. I expect the Boneshard will get up next to it, just in case. The Flamesnake isn't much help, as the damage is ranged.
I think that the Drider, ultimately, won't last, and the combined Conceal on the Nightmare and Large Shadow Dragon for 11 will win out. The Astral Stalker's nearest designation will thwart both bands. The LShD conceal will thwart both bands. The choke points may thwart both bands, but I kinda doubt it, there is enough room to move around.
But, I think 11 has more plausible tricks to overcome the problems than 3 does.
I agree with Tellian that the match will be close, but I think 11 has the edge.

| I vote #3 the swarm can position to absorb stalker shots, the drider can shoose its target. IF the swarm chooses to get onto the central VA, it woudl be tough to move.
The nightmare with conc and blink will be tough, but it doesnt have that many walls to slink through when fighting at the center of the map.
I agree - a real duel, either can win with better tactics or dice. | | Champs 2007 Top 16, Team Amish Class of 2007 Seeking Northern NJ DDM'ers - "There can be only one" (I hope not) Champion of the Doppleganger

| Right now, if my count is correct, 3 is ahead of 11 by a total of 7 votes to 5 votes.
One thing I've liked about this WBC is how close so many of the matches have been. There may have been some earlier blowouts, but, the WBC, I think, has been characterized by close matches.

| I see the Drider locking down the Nightmare with the help of the Rot Scarab Swarm and the Digester and Umber Hulk Delver duking it out. The extra area effects from the Drider and Digester should help bring some multi-target damage and help whittle away the competition. The Boneshard is a wildcard depending on where it gets taken out; mounted on the Nightmare is certainly not a good idea for this guy (or maybe it is for the opposition, hehe). The ongoing damage from the Deathjump Spider is enough to take out the opponents fodder with a few Death From Above's. I don't like the 'closest' on the Flame Snake (I think it was mentioned in a prior post as well). 3 has the better mobility and as I mentioned, putting the Boneshard on the Nightmare for the speed boost is probably not a great idea.
After a very long combat, I'm going to say that Warband 3 will come out the victor, assuming noone's dice are rolling crazy. :p | | ~relientKitten, Champion of Elenriel Annanole, Loremistress >^..^< Happy Customers: 17 Completed Trades: 22 Crochet Beholder: http://www.maxminis.com/Forums/tabid/104/forumid/68/postid/810379/view/topic/Default.aspx Crochet Dice: http://www.maxminis.com/Forums/tabid/104/forumid/68/postid/807807/view/topic/Default.aspx My trades, references, and flavrs: http://www.maxminis.com/Forums/tabid/104/forumid/53/postid/808880/view/topic/Default.aspx My can-has-want-plz-trade list: http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp user=relientKitten

| With a final vote of 10 to 9 Warband 3 pulls off a victory. Even more amazing of a win since the warband's owner voted for his opponent! :)
The Standings:
1st Place.
Tellian
2nd Place:
Vrecknidj
Semi finals random winner: Reliant Kitten Finals Random Winner: Tundrin
All 4 of you please contact me at bshugg (at) hotmail _dot_ com so I can arrange for your prizes to be delivered.
Tellian is crowned champion to reign over the warband challange 17. He makes the rules and calls the shots and I wish him luck! He defeated the dastardly Vrecknidj and kept him from his 4th championship. :) | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! For the next WBC, hmm I don't know. How about PYRAMID Warbands? 200 points assault, free map and:
1 mini 1 time 1 mini 2 times 1 mini 3 times 1 mini 4 times
and if you are able to, then 1 mini 5 times^^
Give me a feedback please...
kind regards | | The journey is the reward
