| This was a great tournament. I didn't end up playing against jjbeezer. My band was
Mummy Lord Crow Shaman Kobold Sorcerer Cleric of Garl Dragonblade Ninja Mongrelfolk Taer Gnoll Skeleton Bullywug Thug
I too played against the eventual winner. The zombie dragon dropped down within my weaker units while my mummy lord was too far away (bad move on my part since the mummy lord was my biggest hitter). I couldn't kill enough of his other units to offset the dragon damage. | | http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12270

| This tournament was to be my first game outside of my small group of gaming friends, so it was a bit of a disappointment to arrive at the event to see that the only other three names on the signup list were the guys I usually play with. We were fortunate to have two others arrive to bring us up to six.
My pulls were probably decent, but lack of experience and (I like to think) bad dice rolls at critical moments left me with a 1 and 2 record. My warband was something like...
Cleric of St. Cuthbert Ettin Skirmisher Destrachan Skullcrusher Ogre Vampire Spawn Gnoll Skeleton Skeletal Dwarf Hill Dwarf Warrior Man at Arms Celestial Dire Badger Carrion Tribe Barbarian Mountain Orc
With so few players, everyone except the guy that left early got at least one extra booster as a prize. My second Deathknell rare was, oddly enough... another Ettin Skirmisher. All in all, it was a lot of fun, and I look forward to the next event (maybe we can get up to 9 players), and it was an opportunity to meet the (apparently) only two other minis players in the greater Houston metropolitan area.

| | My band was the deathknight band, and I was excited to play against someone new. I play against lowlevelstatic, simage and auramancer (1st place) most Fridays. It was a good game Justin. The commander 0 rule really sucks. I spent the week of the tournament hoping I'd pull a beserker and I did, but I'm glad I went with the death knight. Knowing that your opponent's small units can't miss really sucks. I was also lucky to pull the traveller. I was hoping for a flind, but the traveller worked great for me. I'm sure I took third just because I didn't have to play against the guys who took first and second. I'd like to play constructed with you sometime, maybe we can throw down at Montag's sometime. I'm picking up my minis on Friday about 8 pm. | | E-mail | Have/Want List | Reference thread "Whatever you do, don't drop a blade barrier on a troll."

| Oh, and my complete band:
death knight (never took more than 5 points damage) dark traveller (the juiciest target on my team, routed both games, rallied once) destrachan (tough to kill, decent saves, never ran) wood woad (to many hit points to make it worth killing) carrion tribe barbarian (died every match, but worth it) orc savage (always managed his frenzy, but always died) mongrelfolk (nobody ever went after him) dire badger (good screen against spells) hill dwarf warrior (good screen vs archers. 21 AC with cover) | | E-mail | Have/Want List | Reference thread "Whatever you do, don't drop a blade barrier on a troll."
