| Well, I was there also, and the tournament started with 18 folks....
I got round three with lurch (sorry, don't recall your name of the 5 folks I played, I don't recall your's how sad)
Anyway...I was the only unlucky person to not get a commander in all the mini's I pulled. I may have made a mistake putting together my warband, originally, I went with more activations and left the blue dragon out of the warband. had a deathlock, hexblade, and something else that would have been in instead.
My Pulls: (just ran down and got them, so if this rambles it's cuz im gettin info at differnet times) Aberration: Half elf hexblade green dragon bladebearer hobgoblin gnoll man at arms emerald claw soldier fiendish dire weasel myconid guard etheral filcher silent wolf goblin mountain orc elf warrior
Deathknell: celestial dire badger goblin adept deathlock skeletal dwarf timber wolf orc salvage x2 warforged wizard spellstitched hobgoblin zombie soldier of thrane whirling steel monk catfolk wilder dragonblade ninja skullcrusher ogre large blue dragon boneclaw
My band: Blue Dragon Green Dragon Bone Claw Dragonblade Ninja (commander 0) Catfolk Wilder
200 pts on the nose paying 5 for the commander 0. Original idea was to use flying and major spd (12 and 8 for the dragons) to try and get tile pts early and often and get in a spot to use the breathes quick and try to force routing, of course the saves kinda stunk considering all the lvl 10 or so critters around.
Anyway, my rounds went like this:
round 1: Lowell I don't recall his warband, other than it was kinda tank heavy. both lowell and I had never played in a tournament so we spent a good portion of our hour asking questions, reading/rereading rules and determining how we do this or that. Lucky for me, blue dragon did some bigtime damage to his guys that were all in a line. and melee reach 3 didnt hurt. Other than the retarded ruling about adjacent figs only for AoO. So, boneclaw's melee reach 3 and double AoO is pretty redundant or stupid (imho) I won on points.
1-0
Round 2: Tim
Obviously, I didn't take any notes so I don't recall warbands of the people I played. He killed my commander 0 pretty early on, and my blue dragon (having expended his breathe) was on his side of the board and became out of command. Now, not knowing enough about the rules, I didn't think i had any shot of catching any of his figs. Of course, I didn't know about rushing. which I would have been able to do. Oh, his warband had frenzied berserker, boneclaw, elf ranger and i dont recall others. I member his FB and BC came charging across to attack my BC. I kept my Dragonblade ninja and catfolk wilder too close to those two which is what cost me the comander 0. anyhoo, long story short, because i didnt know about rushing, I ended up conceeding after the last fig was mutilated that didnt haveta move 4 at a time.
Round 3: (was it peter?)
See above. Major mistake on my part. re: bad commander placing for me and bad tile placement considering i shouldda known to avoid LOS on my band. oh well, live and learn. I do thank him for the tidbit of advice and the ability to rush. had i known that on the last round i may have actually won, cuz his FB was real low and his boneclaw was mildly damaged.
Rond 4: Lathan Thrask (sp?) bullywig spectre mongrelfolk voice of something a commander type, but a weenie commander that i cant recall somethign that cast -2ac a couple of times that hurt my dragons
I moved the green dragon quickly to his side and on round two routed his commander, maybe round 3. after that, he was commanderless and pretty helpless. I killed all his figs except the spectre which i avoided like the plague and won on points.
Round 5: Todd Didn't show up...musta figured out of the winnings and left.
So, i finished 3-2. Could have finished 4-1 (maybe, more likely would have wound up 3-2, had i known about rushing in round 2)
Overall, a good first experience. Had a good time and learned a bunch about how to play the game versus just collecting the pieces for table top rpg.

| | thank for the report | | They just don't know what's good in life...Conan, tell them what is good in life. To rip the boosters. To count the minis spilled out before you, and to hear the indifference of the women... | |
