We all wished we could too. But the reality was there was just no way our FLGS could give two boosters to each of our fourteen players, so we would not have even had the option to do a two booster draft. Too bad though. | | "We can't stop here...This Is Bat country!"

| The event was not supposed to be Draft, so there was no faction restriction.
Actually Siddartha: Our organizer indicated that they had to be prepared to have 40 people (and product for it). He ended up getting 60 alt paint burning skeletons, and a BUNCH of cases of DK. he can't sell the balance of Dk till the actual release date.
As 2 boosters is all that is requried, that would only be 28 boosters for 14 players. Had they had 3 cases on hand (36 players in the official format) they WOULD have had enough for you to do a 2 DK booster sealed.
We had 10 people and did THREE booster Sealed!! :-)

You could have, but thh prixes would have been re-worked a tad. They would have gotten two cases (normally) and a third from Wizards for support. 28 of 36 boosters would have been used for the tourney, but 8 still would have been useable for prizes, and they could have thrown in some older stock to fill it out, had they wanted. | | Champion of Prit(Wemic vindication is here) Minneapolis/St. Paul area Completed trades: Aspect of Cheese (Love that moniker), Tickparasite, Elderthing, Lalato, Sodj, Grimoire, SmilinIrish, Zeb, RWarehall,Link, wikkawikkawa, Auramancer, Rommers, HK, Ivid5,Qillan_dvra, Puggins, Arcabius, Ironfist Boulderbender, Robby, Corim Danex, monster_slayer, DNDJUNKIE, Kelemvor, Krush, ckissee, Massawyrm, hockey fan, Wish, Uninspiring Lieutenant, vtloon x2, Vrecknidj, Darthpoke, WakeXX, AnarionZell, lycusmike, papabear5 and umpteen local trades with board members

It was supposed to be sealed, but a draft tournament also falls under the "Limited" format as far as ratings go. | | D&D Minis wednesdays at 6pm in Charlotte, NC at Underground Games. Sanctioned tournament third Sat. of every month. Dagaronzie on WotC Boards.

| Just to clear up some terminology misuse:
"Sealed" is a play-with-what-you-get format; you open your boosters and make an army only from those figures.
"Draft" is a play-with-what-you-pick format; each person takes his/her turn opening a fresh booster, pick one figure from that booster, then pass the contents onto the next person. That person picks one figure, passes the rest on, and so on and so on.
In "Sealed", factions don't matter at all.
In "Draft" you must stay within normal faction building rules.

Not quite...
In draft you must stay within a common axis. That is, you can draft all good, all evil, all chaotic, or all lawful. All of the sealed events at WF were supposed to be normal sealed, but since there were a bunch of veteran players there, the organizers were talked into changing that one event into a draft. | | "Why am I all sticky and naked? Really? Like once you draft say... A Valorous Prince and you get a lot of CE minis passed you can't take them... OR if you USE valrous prince you can't PLAY with the CE ones you took.... I'm wondering if its liek magic or not. | | Official Smiter of Min/Maxers and Powergamers.

Yup really. That's pretty much how it works. LG and CE can never be paired (unless you're talking warband building, summoning, or mixed-faction creatures), and the same goes for LE and CG. That's why it's generally important to go into the draft with a solid strategy and take careful note of what's being passed around the table. | | POST DISCLAIMER: Above post may contain humor. Sure thing. You guys should give it a try sometime. It made the prerelease about 900% more interesting and FUN than it would have been otherwise. It's my favorite format to play, even though I stink at it. I never pass up on a chance to draft. [:D] | | POST DISCLAIMER: Above post may contain humor. Now with micro scrubbing bubbles. | | I don't think I would like draft. We played one abe starter and one DK booster sealed. We payed $25 for them. We were given a mushroom tile, that everyone voted could be used in the game, and one repaint, that could not be used. All this time, I was hoping to pull a berserker, and I did, but I pulled a death knight so I used him instead. I used a dark traveller for my commander, a wood woad, destrachan, mongrelfolk, dire badger, hill dwarf, orc savage, and carrion tribe barbarian. I lost my commander at the end of the last round of my first match. time had been called, I was winning, and I decided to try to kill the ettin that based the traveller instead of moving away. bad move. It lost me the game. One of our six players had to leave, and I was matched with him for the second round, and I won my third round game. Since there were only five of us left, the organizers redistributed the prizes so that everyone got something, as well as extra tiles and repaints. If anyone wants mushroom tangle or blue skellies, let me know. My first tourny was a good experience. | | E-mail | Have/Want List | Reference thread "Whatever you do, don't drop a blade barrier on a troll."

| Was there a set price for how much the pre release tournament was to be? A store near me (1.5 hours away) was going to charge $40, which seemed a bit high to me.

Mark
Our FLGS charged only the price of the product, which ended up being about $26 (2 DK boosters). Everyone left with at least 2 Mushroom Tangles, and 2 Burning Skeletons. The prize support was: 6-3-1-1-1. | | POST DISCLAIMER: Above post may contain humor. Now with micro scrubbing bubbles. Do not operate heavy machinery. Take with food. Use only as directed. | | The event was sanctioned so places should of followed the format rules. Mini's sanctioning is a bit less formal though so its probably no big deal that stores didn't. The official paper work included authorized charging up to 43$ for the event. 33 for the product + 10 optional event fee. Our local store is really nice though and lowered it to 35 with a 3$ buy back on tiles/mapsets for players that didn't want any. On top of that they gave almost 2 cases of product for the event prizes | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested!
