Yeah I was impressed with the Woad just for his survival skills.

The spectre is interesting. As I said in my thread he was murdering me, but I just decided to screw it and get away from him. Its just a consistent constant damage nuisance.

Very good to hear about the VP. He is one I hated at first and he kept growing on me.

Moving over from my thread, the Mummy Lord is tough. I don't know how he'll do in a constructed game, but in limited he is a BEAST. Just enough damage and to hit to be annoying, and that looming threat of the death touch is just scary.

Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

wicked cool

My impressions

Beholder-nasty nasty nasty. Your opponent better make his/her save . 2 ranged attacks every turn is scary and teleknisis can even be a pain.

Bloodhulk-good shield and many were sprised at 100 hit points

griffin-Not a good piece. AC is very low and hit points is avergae for cost.

Ogre-heavy armor,decent hp,nice reach attacks . good for cost

White dragon-good piece. high hp total and good bab

Halfling skullclan hunter-very deadly and good taking out undead

Whirling Steel Monk: So-so. moderately durable, but have yet to see Standstill do anything.

I only faced it once yesterday, but both times it prevented any thought of me of backing up, when that was definately what I WANTED to do. I just couldn't risk loosing my activation... It was at least effective for that player in that game...

Seems the key is to make sure you use the monk to base the RIGHT figure/s. An Orc champ isn't going to care, nor will a dragon, but commanders? Spell casters? Yikes...

I had a bit of luck in one of my matches with the griffon. So long as you can get that charge and pounce out of him he is a great piece. That 30 damage can kill several pieces that you hate to see come a running. Killing that figure makes the griffon fearless. I found, that so long as that charge on a figure taking point didn't set the griffon up for too bad a beating from whoever is next, it was worth moving him up for the fearless.

WARNING; after a Hexblade curse and the arrival of a regenerating Warforged Hero and Regenertaing Rhek, with a warlock blasting from behind, not much can be done. man, that guy had some great pulls.

Well I played againts 3 bands in tourney and they ARE NOT EFFECTIVE on tiles with walls.

Treasure room was my key tile as I layed it near his assembly and rushed in with 2 orc champs and took it down.

I like the orc Savage as it gets 20 hp on first melee attack.

I pulled and used a Dark Traveller and I agree that he is a solid piece. Unfortunately I also pulled and used a Vampire Spawn and agree again, total waste. I had it and another DR5 piece (the Mantis, terrible pulls), but almost everything in this set had Magic Damage so it was a waste. I used the Goliath Barbarian, in the first match I couldn't roll an 11 so he was ineffective, but he did better later on. I think he may give the Frenzied Berserker a challenge. Comparable AC and movement, slighlty less normal damage, 15 fewer HP but no burnout and re-roll ability. The Renegade Warlock is nasty.

I also pulled a Dark Traveler and Vampire Spawn, and I have a similar assessment. My Vampire Spawn was useful for me, because of the bands I was up against; but in constructed play, it's not going to be very useful. The Dark Traveler, on the other hand, will add an element to the CG game to make that alignment even more dangerous.

Skullclan - slow, but very nice. Too bad it doesn't have ghost touch.

Spectre - I only passed 1-2 incoporal checks, so this piece probbly seems tougher to me than it should. :) I made the mistake of not putting my FB next to it, oooops, gotta kill it in one turn almost.

Deathlock - I faced one, and did not enjoy that. fear and MM are killers to tile grabbers.

Dwarf Artificer - the Legions Shield helped a lot, actually, and if you just keep it in the back away from damage, that's 21 points safe from harm, but, that's a lot of points to pay.

Badger - didn't scare me

Frog - i actually had to think about where to move my skullclan with the frog on the board

Greenfang - nice piece, those attacks and the regneration and the armor class are nice, course, if he'd have failed his morale....

Dark Traveler - scared me a lot

Renegade wizard - 10 auto damage is a bummer, too bad I didn't have much ranged to fire back!

Cleric of Cuthbert - I know, old piece, but he ended up my commander, and that fear spell is nice for clearing tile grabbing fodder, if only i'd have remembered the commander effect in one of the games!

Beholder -didn't face it, but everyone that did lost, and it looked very, very tough.

Gold Dragon - it died fast in the one game I saw it played (not one of my games)
