I have all the tile sets except for the newest one (Hall of the giant King).  They are all punched but in great shape.  If anyone is interested in buying them, let me know!

I bought a set of the Dire Tombs recently and I am trying to decide if I will ever use them or not. I got lucky a while back and was able to pick up a set of Tact-Tiles which our group uses extensively so I am not sure about these. Storage and sorting them is kind of an issue I guess.

What I'd like see is a set of these devoted to objects instead of rooms. I'd pick up a set that was soley comprised of things like beds, barrels, coffins, urns, altars, etc. as I could use these easily for representing objects on my Tact-Tiles (or even my old roll-up battlemat). The rooms and such are just as easy for me to draw in and I don't have to worry about digging through containers of tiles to find the right set-up. Having access to dungeon dressing type tiles would be cool. Unfortunately, the Dire Tombs only has a few 'item' tiles so I may wind up trading it off since it seems like a waste to punch those few tiles that are useful to me and not use the others.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting the pics of the tile sets... I don't think there is any other place with pictures of exactly what you get with each set.

Since the first tile set has been out of print for awhile (along with Hidden Crypts now too it seems), I suspect Halls of the Giant Kings is more of an introductory dungeon tile set than anything else.  Naming it Halls of the Giant Kings is a bit deceiving but hey, it's a cool name anyway :)

I'm new to these dungeon tile sets so I will probably start by getting two of the new Halls of the Giant Kings sets... or maybe three, not sure yet.  Since the set is fairly generic (something I'm glad of since I own none of the old sets) they will be a great starting point for someone like me.

DU2 Streets of Shadow is due out in October and will feature city tiles, something new which I think will sell well.  DU3 Caves of Carnage is due out in the early part of 2009 and will obviously be another cavern tile set.  After that, who knows... my guess is another wilderness tile set to replace DT4 Ruins of the Wild, either that or another fairly generic tile set with a theme (like Dire Tombs or Fane of the Forgotten Gods).

Can't wait to get my hands on DU1 next week!  Looks like I may have to pickup some new minis to go with the tile sets as well  :)

yeh, my enthusiasm is a little low on this one from the looks of it. There is some useful stuff, and their certainly cheap enough to pick up anyways. Thanks for the pics!

Just to confirm if somebody is wondering about the quality: Just as sturdy and high quality feel as Dungeon Tiles I to VII!

Only the cover is different in layout and shape (no real front cover, but actual tiles visible).

I actually like the dungeon tiles, but don't overlook the Paizo Map Packs if you don't know about them. They're stupid cheap this side of the pond (but don't look quite as affordable from their site) but the map packs let you make pretty elaborate rooms, complete with atmosphere and, well, interesting terrain. And they look very cool. I'll post a picture but just for example:
On Free RPG day I used only the Haunted Mansion set to created a Cursed Manor with two floors, a secret sacrificial chamber, and a Hedge Maze.

http://paizo.com/gameMastery/maps/campaignMapPacks

The downside to the map packs is, admittedly that they're printed on less solid paper than the Dungeon Tiles. Again, in their favor: They Rock. Pictures soon to come.

How do you guys store your tiles?  Is there an inner sleeve inside the folder to put the pieces after they've been punched out?Â

Do some of you throw the containing folder away after you punch out the tiles?  (Seems like this would save a lot of space)

Just curious since I've got six sets of tiles on the way now... where and how to store them didn't occur to me until AFTER I ordered them.

I haven't found a great way to store them yet. I think there is a thread about dungeon tile storage if you use the search function.

I find it incredibly annoying - not to mention outright idiotic - that any of the Dungeon Tiles should go out of print.  I mean, seriously, where's the logic behind it?  It's a good supplement for both the RPG and the miniatures game, which means it should, theoretically, help promote the sales of both, just as those products should continue to supply a demand for the tiles, both among newcomers and for those who've worn out old sets through repeated use.  Do they really need to be a limited time product?  Do we really need friggin' collectible tiles?  Will they stop producing copies of the Monster Manual once they have a second and third and fourth installment out?  Where's the sense in that?

Once I saw what it would cost me to pick up the older sets of tiles, it made it easier to just dismiss the idea of even bothering with them altogether.

Besides, I kinda wish they'd gone a step beyond just pop-out cardboard tiles.  One of the things I always disliked about the DDM tiles was the fact that it was too easy to knock them around.  For the Dungeon Tiles, I think it would have been cool if they'd made them similar to refridgerator magnets, with that thin layer of magnetic backing, and offered fold-out gameboards in a variety of sizes (similar to the old Chessex game mats, ranging from 24" x 24" to a massive 48" x 72") with a metal/aluminum top - with a 1" x 1" grid on the surface that could also be written on with dry erase markers - that the tiles would stick to.  Then the tiles wouldn't move around whenever someone accidently bumped them while moving a figure across them or hit them with a stray dice roll or something.

All of that metal and magnets would greatly increase the price of the product.

As for DTs going out of print, it's like DDM set, there are just so many SKUs/shelf/warehouse space a retailer can support.

I hear you man, and it makes me mad too.  In the end it's all about money though... the first set of generic tiles was just too good of a product to keep producing indefinitely.

Wow... looks almost too good to be true.

Actually, I don't see the rarity of DT1 as an issue anymore now that DU1 is available.  DU1 is a pretty good starter set, not quite as good as DT1 but pretty close.Â

I have solved this problem with the no slide mats used to like kitchen cupboards. They solved this truly annoying aspect of cardboard tiles. I bought the liner at Target for like 6 dollars or so. I cut it into half and have two decent size pieces on which to place the tiles. No more sliding; problem solved.

I think you'll find that DT1 and DT3 are out of print not simply because they want people to buy the the new one (DU1), but because it's really expensive to print it all again. So just print a new 'starter' one (DU1) which will get people who have the old ones to buy AND people looking for a new starter one.

Does anyone use old Mage Knight dungeons Artifact packs for scenery? I'm recently brought some in to the store and think they are a pretty good deal for the price. They give you chairs, altars, clocks, etc... And since the game died they have dropped a lot in price from the old, what, $15 or so? ;-)

I have my eye on these, but I'm not terrible sure about them.  I still have my old heroquest game that has some cool furnishings in it.
