| Every person has a different way of doing values for trades...
People it would be easier if we all used the same value guide system..
I use BIN prices as a guide I use the lowest value also... why would someone want to pay more for a unit is beyond me... I would pick the lowest cost if i was buying something. Unless its shipping was like 20bucks then of course i would use a slightly higher cost BIN with a lower shipping cost....
If i use lowest auction buys you cant choose to do a different auction with lower shipping  because the first auction is final... i have no problem using this system but it seems not everyone uses this...
Now also ABprices.com thats also a good tool, but some reason people dont use that to much on this forum...
I dont want to WAIST time pricing out trades then proposing them and to come back the person saying its onesided towards myside... I always leave the person i am trading, or try to, in the positive... Meaning they are ahead in value 1-2 dollars about or at least equale values... I spend fair amount of time doing this. Also i throw in a common or 2 for the hell of it RANDOM ones at that but so what its nice to get free things sometimes.

| | I simply go to Auggies and see what he has the minis listed for. If for some reason he doesn't have any listed for sale then I do a BIN from ebay. However, Auggie has most and I feel that this is a very fair way to weigh the prices for both because if desired both parties could simply go to Auggies and buy the minis involved in the trade from there. | | Give me more MIND FLAYERS! | |

| ya well i agree abprices are good.. and then using BIN from ebay is great also...
I just hate it when someone says i dont use that method... its not right blah blah... maybe there should be a vote on the forum which is the best? See what most people actually like using...
I hate switching back and forth with every trade proposal...
I am for ABprices.com and then BIN from ebay if no prices listed...
even this http://www.maxminis.com/Forums/tabid/104/forumid/53/postid/807626/view/topic/Default.aspx
would be ok also...
If most people used it...

| | I don't think lowest ebay BIN is a good way at all. Reason: Someone could list a mini for a low BIN price and then say, Hey look, there's one on ebay listed for X dollars. ebay takes too long to sort through and what the current lowest is can fluctuate very quickly. | | "Look to God and live." | Lately, I've been using the average prices from the price lists provided by dhunton in the Trading: References section.

| Mutual consent and personal desirability of the minis concerned are my primary trade rules. If both parties are happy, I couldn't care less about ebay values.

| I use the following Price Comparison website (listed over in the DDM Tradde Section):
http://www.abprices.com/
It looks at a number of different sites (ebay, auggies, ...). So far it has been very good.Â

| I haven't traded much in a long time. I have one pending from here and one from Hordelings, and I probably won't get to either until near Thanksgiving.
Still, once upon a time, when I had 5 trades going at once, all the time, I really liked having guides to go by.

| Hi Random,
I track Ebay closed auctions for mostly rares and promos. They typically sell for below the average BIN prices, but are often near the BIN lows. If you are looking for something in particular, I would be more than happy to share my tracking data with you.

| | It would seem like he'd have everyone using the same guide, whatever it is and that is a tall task. The art of negotiation and perspective values have long been a part of collectible hobbies, folks enjoy trying to convice others their stuff is worth more than yours. An effort to state "we all use this or that guide here" is silly if you ask me.  If you don't enjoy haggling from those kind of folks, there'll always be others of like mind. | | Champion of the Kender ckissee - "providing TPK's since 2007" Albert Einstein never once said that if the bees disappeared, "man would have only four years of life left" but the theory is a scary prospect. | |

| Hi Raland,
I agree! If I am looking for that elusive last fig to complete a set, I may be willing to give up more for it. If I am looking to get a cool promo, I may be willing to give up alot for it since you can't pull them out of boosters. But if I am looking for a duplicate of something I already have, then price lists or my own Ebay trackings becomes my guide. At that point they are very useful.
Bottom-line, trades are a matter of negotiation. I have been happy with every trade I have made. I would hope that those who have traded with me, felt the same way.

| As a means of determining value, I've been using my standard comparison (the long-winded version in my trade thread) and also keeping an eye on how much of a difference there is to have used dhunton's price guide instead (since it's the most recent we've got.)
So far, the numbers really haven't been that far off target. If you're trading one rare for a lot of commons/uncommons, the price guide is a better bet because the value on rares is significantly higher there than on most C/Us. More recent rares are worth more in the price guide than they are in the retail market (enough AtG boosters have been opened and openly traded). More even trades for number/valued rares and a few C/Us provides is generally within about 5% of each other.
My side of a current trade is $12.53 based on my valuation or $33.98 based on dhunton's price guide. The opposite side is looking like $12.46 based on my valuation and $32.74 based on the price guide. They are, within a certain range, equivalent.
I find Auggie's to be an amazing in-between-solution for the reasons listed above, and I do reference Auggie's quite a bit. I was just considering earlier today, without having seen this post, of keeping track of Auggie's prices to compile as a list (or if he'd just let me make a DB query... **sad kitty eyes**). His prices are very reasonable, tend to keep up with demand and price fluctuations rather well, and have only been vastly different from my standard method on a few rares that have mixed demand (most of the rares are a few dollars higher, but I've seen differences of up to $10 at times).
Would I convert to Auggie's values if I had a comprehensive list? Probably. My current method takes a bit of time and effort to get through. But it means I may have to tweak the valuations for my crochet slightly.

| I am the developer for abPrices.com and I was plesantly suprised to see it mentioned here so many times.
I am almost done with several additions to abPrices, including a trading system that will allow you to get your trades listed on the same page as the stores, and a Have/Want/Trade list with reports. These addition will take advantage of the prices that are in the database, like the estimated values of trades and of your collection.
I would love to hear what I can do to make the site more useful. I
don't want to hijack this thread, but if someone has ideas on what they
would like to see on abPrices, email me at Doug at abprices . com
with your suggestions or start a new thread.
