| Today is a busy day here in the office chasing down some loose elementals, so this will be a short preview. Well, short in words, at least -- here are three figures from Demonweb. It's a complete coincidence that this week's preview has figures that have point costs as (rounded) multiples of 7.5. I'm sure you'd rather spend your time checking out the beta versions of the Blood War restats instead. Spiretop Drake The spiretop drake is one of the drakes featured in the Monster Manual. I suspect this will be a popular choice in the miniatures battle game as a piece to camp out in victory areas near walls, because opponents will need to use a creature that doesn't have just a melee attack to handle the threat. | |
Shardsoul Slayer This creature was created by Rodney Thompson for last year's Monster Manual V, but you can find the 4th Edition version of it in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide; check out the section on the Warlock Knights of Vaasa. This creature has the shard of a soul of a primordial; it's a construct fueled by elemental fury.
Web Golem The Web Golem -- an awesome sculpt. When I first saw the unpainted miniature a few months back, it quickly became one of my favorites in the set. There is a subtle yellowish wash on the miniature giving it a nice, icky appearance. Next week -- well, you know the drill.

| Is the drake a small or a tiny? It could pass for a small or tiny white.
I may get some shardstone slayers.
I will be getting 1-2 of the web golem.
This is a better preview week for me, considering how few of the overall rares I am interested in. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse

The drake seems ok to me, and the web golem is aright, but don't like the shardsoul at all. | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. | I pretty much concur Greyhaze. The Drake is alright (although a different color would be welcome), the other two are pretty meh for me.

With only 20hp and low AC, this will be quickly dead to ranged attacks. And most area attacks will kill it as collateral damage while targetting something more valuable. No way is it going to be popular in the minis game. | | Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. | The drake can pass as a small white. do the whites are done as the orginal small white was a medium in size. I'll take one or 2 The Shard golem is a meh too sci-fi for me, take one if i pull one. The web golem rocks , wish they would stayed with the 3.5 art for the head. | | Champion of the Peryton Vindicated Champion : Pit Fiend, Devourer DW: Duergar Priest RPG Only!!!! | Nice! 3 Figs previewed! The Spiretop is much needed for RPG, it's a nice scuplt, just would've been better with more detailed paint/added colors/maybe another wash? The High Perch ability in skirmish is cool. The Shardsoul Slayer is Really cool looking as an uncommon, and both the scuplt and paint job kick *****! The Death's Release Ability of the Sharsoul is awesome for skirmish aswell. The Web Golem, really cool concept. As far as the sculpt/paint job is concerned it's just as Peter Lee said, awesome. It's just too bad it's a rare. For skirmish, the inexorable (awesome ability btw) and immobilized combo are gonna be killer. All in all, sweet preview. I give it 3 Scorpions and a Cockatrice

| I think I would've been ok with the Shardsoul if it didn't have the stupid armor on it. Now it gets lumped in with the Nightmare and Fire Archon and all the other stuff that has senseless armor that is mysteriously attached to it.
I'm glad to hear the golem has a wash. Too bad it doesn't show up in the pics. The drake I just don't care for at all.

| The Shardsoul Slayer just looks awkward. Can't say anything nice about it.
The Spiretop Drake's pose reminds me of the Small Black Dragon - definitely not one of my favourites for a dragon.
Can't tell enough of the Web Golem from the picture. It looks interesting, but we'll have to see it in hand for final verdict. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.

| | Thanks for posting the preview. As someone who has been collecting the miniatures since Harbinger, I am overly unimpressed with the first 3 previews...although I'm interested to see the Web Golem as a final product... | | The man who thinks he can, and the man who thinks he can't are both right. | | I guess I don't really know much of anything about the Shardsoul Slayer. I didn't realize that was armor, since I didn't look very closely. I was just saying I'd probably get some since they are in MMV. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

| I like the little dragon. Glad there will still be some small/medium dragon types after all :D
The others are kinda meh for me, though better than average as they are not remakes of recent minis, so will get some of each. | | "Mutton yesterday, mutton today, and blimey, if it don't look like mutton again tomorrer." | All 3 of these stink stat wise (Web Golem is best of the 3 though easily). Â Garbage. | | Completed trades: 16 Pending Trades: 0 Trade feedback thread: http://maxminis.com/Forums/tabid/104/forumid/53/postid/807160/view/topic/Default.aspx

I think the complete opposite is true. the Drake is probably the best tile grabber we have seen in the game so far. the Shardsoul?! in limited rocks your face off, and even in constructed a 15pnt piece that buffs an ally on death and can charge for 20dmg and then confuse you is very solid. The Web Golem i think is the worst of the 3 skirmish wise and it still has some really awesome slow/immbo tech, though id have liked it much more at 65hp.

I agree the drake is similar in appearance to the small black. But thats my favourite sculpt for a small dragon. For the skirmish game it really needs 25/30 hp (or be a lot cheaper) to be any use as a tile grabber. With only 20hp an elf arcane archer will kill it in one shot.

Peter Lee told us yesterday in chat that tinys and smalls are on the same base now, so there are still tinys, but they're on small bases. Don't think that's the case here, but for what it's worth. | | Eye dun no why youse guys think im not relly a person im jimgang from canada but im moving to cali as soon as i get a master card -Jimgang
