| I just got a large minis purchase in today, and one of the minis was the Tiefling Cleric. I bought him on a whim, thinking that while he was goofy-looking, I could use him for a baddie in some future game. I was very pleasantly surprised when I examined the mini up close - I think it looks awesome. I now find myself wanting to use the mini just because I like the way it looks.
Has this ever happened to anyone else - you obtain a mini that you think will be mediocre, but it ends up knocking your socks off? I would be interested in hearing others' experiences regarding this  | |

| I got two of the Storm Giant Thunderers thinking they were Stone Giants.....
I thought they looked really cool. Now I am conflicted. I'm not thrilled that I have two storm giants that I thought were stone giants. | |

At least, like you said, they do look really cool. Better than getting stuck with a couple of crappy looking pieces that you can't trade away.

| When I started with the minis game I bought Artemis Entreri on eBay. The seller made a mistake and sent me Elminster instead.
What a pleasent surprise that was! Still one of the top 5 all time D&D minis to me.

I noticed a few comments about ppl happy with the Storm Giant Thunderer's look/paint in this thread.

Probably because you're a good or decent painter, and I can't paint worth beans. I can't tell a good paint job from a bad paint job, so I just go by how much I like a given colour scheme. The Thunderer works for my simple taste. | |

| Lareth the Beautiful is indeed one of my alltime highlights of pleasant surprises. Especially because I jsut ckilled him in the Greyhawk pc game out at the time.
