The whole concept of a thin common that other minis could easily stand on was wasted by those little heads that might look neat but ruined the function. I complained about them.
Temperance, in a reply, explained that a medium creature could fit on top nicely. My interpretation of his comment was that the heads didn't get in the way. I didn't see how from the picture, but I was willing to wait and see.
Now I have waited and seen. And the thin common swarm function really was messed up by those heads. Sure, a medium can balance on top of the three heads--but about half an inch above the table. And slightly cocked to the side. It is quite disappointing.

I guess what sells me is the memory of the snake pit in Raiders of the Lost Ark. When 5-6 are placed down on the mat, the little rearing heads make it all the more dramatic when the PCs are faced with it. I do hope that the remake of the rat swarm (fingers crossed) will be flat. | | Completed Trades: Cha0tic g0od x2,IHawk x7,demagogue x5,jcnorris00,Sammael x3,Diomedes x3,Pan,Phoenix,samstephenson500,sage_raistlin,jai,simage,Lab Monkey x4,bugsy,Vulturedoodle,T-Bone,niolo,GreyOne,Kunimatyu,Mullins,ShivanWurm,berus316,Thenameless x4,Tysac,ksuvampire,Mama Cass,Metz,Zim x2,brucemc,Krush x6,Venport,RedneckDM,nycfarmkid,Corim Danex,Chad the DragonLordofAiur x2,Puggins,Izeya82 x2,Oryan77 x3,Zenako,Wayne,Vocenoctum1,Drakkengi,Username x3,lyus_sleyden,Cyberia,Star x2,xuthal x3,Qucalion of Celene x8,sam500 x2,Blob39,Keoki x2,hazel monday x3,emontedodger,Dargoth,Wraithborne x3,Anothermullen,Vrecknidj x4,Ghendar,Gunthar,shoesan,beurice,ckissee,kyrin,Khellrendros,GuJiaXian,Wolfgang x3,True_Blue,md3,stephengroy(MMT08),Teflon Jeff,GuJiaXian(MMT08),aries71,Count Dooku,Kat_Dawg33,oldben,TheChuck,hung4treason,relientKittenx2I I I I I I I I I I 0 I I I I I I I I I I Pending:

Hypothetical Rat Swarm Beast * Swarm Cost 15 Level 4 AC 18 Fort/Ref/Will 15 Speed 5 HP 25 Basic Diseased Bite: +9 vs. Fort; 5 Damage AND Weakened Formless: Half Damage from melee and ranged attacks Stable Footing: Ignores difficult terrain (per se) Reach 0: No OAs Infest: Can occupy a space occupied by a non-Swarm creature (per se) [] [] Swarm Attack: Immediate, when a creature activates while this creature shares its space; ongoing 5 poison damage Hypothetical Swarm: Use at end of this creature's turn: Roll 1d20. On 1-5 this creature gains Conceal 11 until the end of its next turn. On 6-11 this creature gains Phasing until the end of its next turn. On 12-15 this creature gains Insubstantial until the end of its next turn. On 16-20 any creature sharing this creature's space is treated as not occupying that space for purposes of movement of allies of this creature. No sense not introducing pain-in-the-butt rules text that's crazy to adjudge.
